A California Lady That Learned The Hard Way About Rat Poisons

One story was from a client of ours in Southern California that purchased 4 Ratzappers from us for their home and spa/hot tub area in the back of their large home.

Their neighbor was also having a rat problem and she was told about getting a few Ratzappers for her home as well. 

In many cases if someone has a rat or mouse problem then their neighbors most likely also have a rodent problem as well.

Anyway, this home owner was going away on business for about 3 weeks and decided to spread rat poison in various places in her house.

And left on her trip.

When she came home, she was taken aback by all the flies that greeted her on her arrival. 

She couldn't believe it...

And was wondering "why?" are there so many flies in my home?

She then saw in her living room a stain of wet blood in her ceiling and realized that rats ate the poison.

The problem, is that the poison is a slow kill for rats and mice.  And when they die they hemorrhage and that is often between the walls and floors.

We've heard stories of people having to tare down walls and replace them because they could not get rid of the smell.

She had a HUGE mess in her home.

Rat poison is also terrible for the enviroment and other animals and pets.

There are many documented facts about the dangers of rat poison and the hazard poisons play on the enviroment.  If the rat or mouse dies outside the home, and if a bird or other animal picks at it, they can be poisoned as well.

Many get sick and some die.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a ful report on rat poisons in 1998 and said that rat poisons "pose a significant risk of accidental exposure to humans, particularly children, household pets, and non-target animals,".
 
We know it kills rats but rat or mouse poison also kills everything else too.

And the problem isn't going away.  Last year alone, poison control centers said they had over 15,000 incidents of children under 6 ingesting rat poison, which is a 40% increase in the last decade!
